Viacom, which owns children's television station Nickelodeon (which was recently
banned in Belarus ), has opened a virtual world for the youngest Internet users. The virtual world is called Nicktropolis.
As planned, the novelty reminds of Second Life - children can create three-dimensional spaces, choose their avatars, communicate with each other, watch videos and play games.
Viacom claims that profits will come from advertising, but so far the project is funded by an unnamed sponsor,
Reuters reports .
