PHP programmers salaries

Salaries of PHP-programmers in recent years (3-4 years) have grown very strongly. For example, my salary has increased 7 times since spring 2004. But this does not reflect the corresponding growth of knowledge or experience. Just the market is growing, wages are increasing.

Where does this growth come from? After all, now there is no big shortage of PHP-coders. The standard of living does not grow at such a pace. Inflation too. But all the same, even beginners are already asking for 20-30 thousand, and for the senior less than 50-70 and not offering.

I doubt that employers are trying to lure good employees with high wages — the good ones have long found a decent job and don’t want to go anywhere. And employers, as a result, not finding the one who needs them, take the first people who were told during the interview that they know how to program.

Breaking this trend is very difficult. It is easier for big companies to pay more and not to bother themselves with a long search, all the same they have these salaries invested in prime cost. And small ones have to adapt to the market - otherwise they will not survive.

The real solution I see is the transfer of “production” capacities to the regions. Still, while salaries are much lower there, people are not so spoiled by money and often do better jobs than the well-paid residents of the two capitals. And if you choose the company (or a group of programmers) wisely, the costs will fall well.

Such a decision will be useful to us living in Moscow. There will be some kind of market cleansing, and only the really talented programmers will remain, who will already be 100% consistent with the money they pay.
