Intel and Micron set records

On Thursday, Intel proudly announced its new achievement: its joint venture with Micron company IM Flash Technologies for the first time in the world began production of NAND memory chips using the 34 nm process technology. Under the cover of one serial chip, 32 GB of memory now fits, which is 2 times more than the previous record set by Samsung. Due to this, drives can now be made cheaper and with less energy consumption.

However, this achievement does not guarantee the electronic giants of huge profits and a breakthrough in the fight against the main competitor - the same Samsung Semiconductor. The market for flash memory in the United States continues its protracted decline, referring to the times of falling demand. Buyers already carry bulky flash drives, smartphones and players in their pockets and do not yet feel the need to change them to more roomy ones.

Based on this situation, IM Flash offers its new chips primarily to the business sector. The growing laptop market is beginning to fill models with SSD-drives. However, only now, albeit with a relatively high price, such models can be equipped with acceptable volume flash drives.
