Microsoft is testing Windows online diagnostic tools

Microsoft has begun beta-testing of the service, which will allow the Sysinternals diagnostic tools to run directly through the browser. This kit includes more than 70 utilities, including the Process Explorer program for studying the list of processes running on the computer (this is an advanced version of the standard Task Manager), as well as Processor Monitor and RootKitRevealer for rootkit detection. Previously, these programs had to search on the Internet and specifically download, because they are not included in the standard package of Windows.

Microsoft yesterday officially announced the launch of beta-testing of the Sysinternals Live site. There is now laid out the entire set of programs. Some browsers (like Firefox) cannot launch them instantly, but first they must save the file. At the same time, Internet Explorer immediately launches the file for execution. You can call any program directly from the address bar with the command

\\ live.sysinternals.com \ tools \ toolname

')

where “toolname” corresponds to the name of the program.

It must be said that the developer of Sysinternals, Winternals Software, was acquired in mid-2006, and the co-founder of the company, Mark Russinovich, has since been working at Microsoft.
