On June 20, Sony will start selling its new original Sountina speaker system (NSA-PF1) in Japan. The main element of the system is a transparent tube made of organic glass with a height of slightly less than 2 meters, the vibrations of the walls of which create a sound evenly spreading around it. The unusual “dynamics” available reproducible frequencies from 50 to 20 000 Hz. In addition to the tube, the system includes a subwoofer with a diameter of 13 cm, which at the same time serves as a stand for it and makes up with it a column similar to a Star Wars lightsaber.

A steel thread passes through the entire height of the column, which is illuminated by LEDs, changing the color from blue to purple at will. This emphasizes the role of the system primarily as an interior object. Sony assumes that its customers will be large stores, hotels and other institutions that will use the system to voice announcements for visitors. The price of the novelty, by the way, will be clearly “non-domestic” $ 10,000.
In the autumn, the company plans to begin shipping Sountina to its customers in the Middle East, USA, Brazil and Russia.
