How to start a data center to sail
Most recently, DatacenterKnowledge journalists talked about the launch of a network of floating data centers. Surprisingly, this technology is not new - Google has similar developments. Now Nautilus Data Technologies, a young startup, so to speak, is trying to develop this area on its own.

The idea of the founders of the company is to provide space for IT infrastructure. Only these areas will be located on the water.

Experts assure that such constructions can be more stable in case of earthquakes and can be easily moved to another place by water.
For cooling in this case it is supposed to use the water that is located directly under the data center. Another advantage of this design is the ability to quickly deploy.
As in the case of underground data centers, this experiment is conducted at one of the military facilities - a naval shipyard of the US armed forces. Subsequent data centers are planned to be built at similar sites, which makes the pilot project typical.
The team plans to switch to the use of fuel cells as the main source for power supply to the utility systems of floating data centers.
