The
Last.fm project, which occupies the 5th place in the list of companies on Habré (right between Apple and Studio Lebedev), recently presented a beta version of itself. The ability to use new features and interface is currently only available to subscribers. This is the standard move of the company - users are testing the bugs of the
new system for their money (the cost of a subscription, as you know, is $ 3 per month).
In addition to changing the interface on the site, new features.
Visually, the site has become easier, but the interface has not changed fundamentally - all the same three familiar columns. There is a feeling that when creating the layout, the designer’s mind led the internal struggle. On the one hand, on each page you need to place a maximum of information (both textual and graphical). On the other hand, it is necessary to comply with the web-trend.
As a result, large pictures on the site side by side with small, sometimes unreadable text, rounded corners with sharp corners, individual flash elements and icons appear where no one expects to see them. A step forward is the design of pictures of performers. Photos are not accompanied by reflections (thank you, designer!), But by nice rounded shadows. An unusual gray-green-blue gamma is diluted with user avatars and photos of performers.

Multicolored user icons have disappeared, and now subscriber is distinguished by a nickname signature. Thus, one of the main advantages of the subscription was under threat :)

Layout - conditionally rubber, that is, the page adapts to the width of 800-1024 pixels. Therefore, at resolutions of 1680 ± eyes and monitors fade from the abundance of white. Unfortunately, this is a standard practice, and you have to get used to the content column in the center of the display.
It is possible that much of the above will change at the time of release from beta. And now we will rejoice at the screenshots, starting with the most interesting page - the user profile.

Library - a new section of the user profile. All tracks that the user has ever listened to are added here. Based on the library, a custom radio playlist is compiled. Artists can be deleted, but it is not yet clear how this affects the general user’s chart (I did not dare delete anyone).

By the way, now the user can create several playlists - previously only one was available.
One of the main functional changes is the frequency of updating statistics. Now all user charts are updated in realtime. Despite this, the ability to view charts by period is preserved.

Much still does not work.

It is possible that the Last.fm client will also undergo changes to the release of the new site, and
new functions will be launched. The rest is the good old last.fm, and we will love it the way it will be :)
