Botan.io - an experimental analytics tool for Telegram bots from Yandex
Recently, we in Yandex have done as an experiment a few bots for Telegram. And we faced an obvious question - how do we measure them? There was a lack of a good, simple and affordable analytics system.
We began to look for ready-made systems that would be suitable for our purpose. First we decided to look at analytics for mobile applications. Flurry , Mixpanel and Localytics are now in charge in this industry. After a little research, it became clear that Flurry and Localytics were created with a focus on the mobile SDK and there is no easy way to send them events from the server and is not expected.
Mixpanel, in contrast to the first two, has a wide range of libraries in different languages for sending from the server. And we decided to try it out. The tool turned out to be very convenient, but too expensive for small projects that send a large number of events.

Not finding anything that would completely suit us, we looked at the possibilities of our Metrics. And they made their own bot analytics tool - Botan . This wrapper around AppMetric , the mobile version of Metrics for apps.
Now we want to share our solution with everyone and make it free. Botan allows you to collect events from your bots into your mobile Yandex.Metrica and build most of the reports available there.
So far, Botan is working for Telegram, but we are also thinking of adding the ability to look at bots created for other platforms. Now we are collecting the addresses of all those interested in the tool to ensure their access. If you want to receive it, leave the e-mail on the site botan.io .
