Epic Games official forums hacked

The official Epic Games forums, forums.epicgames.com , have been hacked. Unauthorized access to data such as login, e-mail, date of birth, password was obtained. Interestingly, the official letter does not say how the passwords were stored, but they will be reset to all users during the next visit to forums.epicgames.com. Currently forums are offline.

Official letter from Epic Games:

Dear Epic Games Forum Member,

Epic Games forums were located at forums.epicgames.com were compromised by a hacker. You have been given access to your account.

We have taken forums.epicgames.com offline. When the site reopens, your password will be reset. If you use the same password, you can use it.

UDK, Infinity Blade, Gears of War, Bulletstorm, and prior Unreal Tournament games. However, the Unreal Tournament sites were unaffected.

We apologize for the inconvenience this causes everyone. In the future, we’re working to understand the nature of the compromise. We will report further information on the forums when they reopen.

You have been provided with registration. It can be accessed using the forums. It is not a good idea to ask for suspicious emails such as phishing attempts.
