A Moldovan hacker stole money from bank accounts right from a prison cell. Local law enforcement agencies reported that for two months, Alexander Melnik and two of his accomplices, one of whom had previously been an employee of a robbed bank, managed to steal more than 185 thousand lei (approximately $ 14.2 thousand) from client accounts.
Having a laptop computer and a mobile phone in the cell, Melnik connected to the Internet and hacked the security system of one of the Moldovan banks, reports Regions.ru . Having access to the digital codes of accounts, he gave them to associates who forged bank cards and cashed money.
Now all accomplices are arrested, and are awaiting trial. They were charged with violation of the articles "Theft in especially large amounts" and "The production or use of falsified bank cards or other payment documents." It is worth noting that Melnik was imprisoned precisely because of the theft from bank accounts.
