After a rather long period of time, the ReactOS project again had its own official channel on Youtube. And as a premiere video, we will show you the first "official" laptop project. They were no longer very young, but still vigorous Dell Latitude D531 . The announcement of this event is exactly what we recently promised to tell , talking about computers under the name of Dell.

Why is the laptop "official" and what is the point of the idea?
We wanted, on the one hand, to prove the obvious fact that ReactOS can already work on real hardware, and on the other hand, to look at the situation from potential users and eliminate a number of existing bugs. This could be achieved only if key developers had an absolutely identical set of hardware at their disposal, which would have made it easier to identify systematically arising problems.
In fact, this laptop model came to us a long time ago, more than a year ago, in the amount of ten copies, which the employer of one of the ReactOS developers donated to us, but we did not want to talk about it ahead of time. We think you will agree that a “deaf” and “blind” laptop (except for the display, almost nothing worked correctly) would hardly have aroused interest in the demonstration. In fact, the Latitude D531 has collected all the possible problems that are often found on other computers separately.
Laptops were distributed among the most active participants in our project, which allowed us to organize regular testing on real hardware and coordinate efforts to eliminate hardware-related bugs.
This is how the battle with bugs was performed in order to eliminate them:
r62517 - earned a keyboard
r63126 - earned the touchpad,
r66512 - earned a wired network,
r66514 - earned a wireless network,
expected this week - installing the original manufacturer's drivers for the video card,
USB - while WIP , alas.
Thus, the owners of this model of a laptop or computers with similar hardware will very soon have the opportunity to fully appreciate the work of ReactOS on their equipment.
