Hello!
At the end of May, an event from Microsoft Research, about which we
wrote earlier, was held . I would like to sum up some results using the official report of one of the key speakers,
Kenji Takeda .
')
On the first day there were several reports, each of which suggested methods for using the cloud in various areas and industries. The first one (
slides ) was devoted to examples of using Microsoft Azure in different scenarios, then Sergey Bartunov from Moscow State University spoke about how he used Microsoft Azure to train a machine learning model (
slides ). Ivan Klimov from the Center for Internet Studies and Society showed how he studied Vkontakte using Microsoft Azure. Sergey Berozin from the joint research center MSU-MSR made a report on the development of new tools in collaboration with MSR (
Biomodel Analyzer and
FetchClimate ).
During the event, the Azure initiative for Russian researchers was launched, designed to solve issues with additional resources for modeling and other tasks (for example,
Azure Machine Learning ).
In parallel with the main event, a master class was held for graduate students and research workers at which
Drew Purves and
Konstantin Makarychev from MSR told how to write high-quality research papers, after which the floor was given to the participants.

The result is an excellent event that brought together Russian enthusiasts from science and Microsoft and Microsoft Research employees, and also marked the first anniversary of cooperation between MSU and MSR and the new Azure receiving program (
applications can be submitted until August 15, 2015 ).
