Runet is quite law-abiding, despite the abundance of extremism

Despite the abundance of extremist sites, the Interior Ministry considers the Russian segment of the Internet to be completely law-abiding. This opinion was voiced by Colonel-General Boris Miroshnikov, head of the Bureau of Special Technical Measures at the 20th National Information Security Forum Infoforum.

“In the ru zone, the Internet is of much greater order. Our providers are sympathetic to the need to comply with the law, ”said Miroshnikov ( quoted by words from Lenta.ru, referring to Interfax ). Miroshnikov noted that the “concern” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is caused by the proliferation of extremist websites, “of which a huge number have appeared.” Creating such resources that push people to commit illegal acts is a crime.

In addition, Boris Miroshnikov said that in 2006 the growth of computer crime stopped in Russia: “The figures remained at the level of 2005 - just over 14 thousand crimes”.
