Free textbook of electronics, computer architecture and low-level programming in Russian

Lord I am pleased to announce that finally everyone can download a free textbook on more than 1600 pages, more than fifty people from leading universities, institutes and companies in Russia, Ukraine, the USA and the UK have worked on the translation. It was a real national project and an example of international cooperation.

The textbook by David Harris and Sarah Harris "Digital circuit design and computer architecture", second edition, 2012, brings together the worlds of software and hardware, being both an introduction to the development of microchips and low-level programming for junior students. This textbook is superior to the earlier introductory textbook Computer Architecture and Computer Systems Design by David Patterson and John Hennessy, and co-author of the previous textbook David Patterson himself recommended the Harris textbook as more advanced. Following the new textbook, students build an implementation of a subset of the MIPS architecture using FPGA / FPGA boards, and then compare this implementation with Microchip PIC32 industrial microcontrollers. Thus, we introduce together circuitry, hardware description languages ​​Verilog and VHDL, computer architecture, micro-architecture (organization of the processor pipeline) and programming in assembler - in general, everything that exists between physics and high-level programming.
