It seems that Google has invented a new kind of beta testing. First, a new service is run in on
corporate clients, and then opened to the general public. At least, this is exactly the way the site builder
Google Sites has done. This is a very high-quality service (in fact, a ready-made CMS with a built-in WYSIWYG editor and free hosting), created on the basis of the development of the Jotspot company bought a year and a half ago.
In February 2008, the service was
included in the set of corporate applications Google Apps, so the site builder was available only to corporate customers (of course, Google Apps could be installed on any domain, but the main users of Google Apps are commercial organizations). And a few hours ago there was a
good news : from now on, Google Sites is available to anyone who has a Google account.
