Chrome extension allows you to follow your friends via Facebook Messenger

The web version of Facebook Messenger by default delivers location information along with a message. Harvard College student Aran Hanna, who will be a Facebook intern from June, has found this original application. He found that he could get data not only about the movements of friends with whom he communicates, but also about the people who write in chat with him.

All this resulted in an extension for Chrome Marauders Map , also called a map in one of the books by JK Rowling, which showed the movement of people in Hogwarts. The extension allows you to determine the coordinates of the interlocutor with an accuracy of several meters.

I decided to write this extension, because we are constantly being told how we are losing privacy with the increasing influence of information technologies on our lives, but the consequences never seem to be tangible. With this code, you can feel at yourself the potentially aggressive use of the information you are sharing, and decide for yourself if there is anything to worry about.
