China plans to invest $ 182 billion to modernize the Internet

Recently, the Chinese authorities announced the start of a large-scale project to modernize the Internet structures in the country. And it is planned to spend on all this just a huge amount of funds. $ 182 billion will be spent on new fiber-optic networks, as well as 4G communications across the country by the end of 2017.

Reportedly , the government plans to invest $ 69.3 billion in the construction of new networks this year. For comparison: the UK has invested about $ 1.22 billion in the development of the Internet over the past few years, which is about $ 20 per active Internet user. In China, they plan to spend as much as $ 132 per user.

A large-scale reconstruction of the network should put an end to the disruptions in the speed of the national Internet of the PRC. According to many statements, these failures are caused, among other things, by the monitoring system known as the Golden Shield, which has been actively operating since 2003.

Officials in China say that by 2017 access to 100-megabit connections, based on fiber-optic infrastructure, will be provided in all cities, and moreover in 80% of Chinese villages. Also everywhere in cities and villages there will be coverage of 4G-networks with access speeds of up to 30 Mbps. By the way, now China ranks 82nd in the world in terms of Internet speed, yielding even to its neighbors like Thailand and Taiwan.

According to the outlined plan, part of the investment in modernization will be provided by private companies and local entrepreneurs who are interested in developing the IT sector and at the same time receiving a substantial state. support for the development of their own projects.

Successful implementation of such an ambitious plan, "Celestial", even for such short terms, can reverse the situation with the chronic backwardness of the IT infrastructure in the entire Asian region. The poor development of the PRC Internet networks, when compared with Europe and the USA, seriously slows down the country's economic growth. However, do not forget the same Chinese experience with ghost towns. Shturmovshchina and "capcocking" in such a delicate matter are not the best satellites. Overheated by domestic investment, a country's economy can produce an absolutely bizarre result, very different from the planned one. In any case, in the near future we only have to watch as extras to watch the development of this, sincerely confident, entertaining action.
