The Internet. Finland and army service

It seems that dependence on the Internet is officially recognized as a serious illness. In Finland, those suffering from this disease have ceased to call up for military service.

Just a few minutes ago, I heard on the radio a question in some kind of competition - “For what reason do not take the army in Finland?”.
Variants of answers:
1. Flatfoot
2. Internet addiction

According to Reuters, the Finnish Ministry of Defense has decided to release conscripts suffering from Internet addiction from serving in the country's armed forces. In Finland, the recruitment of the national army is carried out by conscription, the service life is six months.

The reasons for such a decision by the Finnish military commissars are more than weighty: the doctors found that the young men, after parting with their computers, endure separation too hard. "For people sitting on the Internet all night long, having no other hobbies or friends, getting into the army is too hard a blow," said the third-rank captain, Jyrki Kivela. He said that the sick will be given a delay of three years - it is quite possible that during this time they will find the strength to overcome their ailment and stand in line.

Official data on the number of victims of this disease, such as Internet addiction, is not given in Finland. In 2003, 26.5 thousand people were subject to conscription in Finland. 9% of them were exempted from service for medical reasons. But the Finnish military does not make any particular problems. “We are very proud of the Finnish men,” said Kivela. - 82% of Finns fully fulfill their military duty ".
