Whatever you are a technological geek, in no case should not underestimate the role of sales. You can come up with your best product, go to work for yourself, spend a year and a half and make a really worthy application, but nobody will buy it just because you cannot sell.

This is particularly acute in the roar of design studios: you can be a great studio with talented designers, great programmers and managers working in it. And you will be ready to make this website for 100 thousand rubles, but then from somewhere there will be 5 competitors who are ready to do the same for 50, another 15 who are ready for 30, 25 who are ready to make for 20 and another 5 students who are ready to do it for 10. Without having excellent sales specialists, you cannot convince the customer that he should pay 100 thousand, and that he should pay you.
Your best team can do nothing if you have no sales.

Approximately such thoughts arise in me every time one big project ends, and the other is not even visible on the horizon. We started just like many in IT: having reached the level of executives, we left to work for ourselves and over the past year we have been gradually developing. But when you have to think about our sore point - sales, the whole nature begins to resist :) We are excellent project managers, programmers, testers and designers. But we are not sales managers. Yes, we sell, but we do not like to do it.
Recently, complaints about the lack of responsible and qualified personnel in the IT sphere are often heard. Yes, the problem is the place to be. But look a little wider, and you will understand that things are even worse with sales: you can count the qualified sales managers in IT on your fingers. But these are the main suppliers of work and money for your team.
