New competition at PHDays: hacking mobile communications, electrical substations and routing protocols

Forum Positive Hack Days is famous for its versatile and original competitive program . Competitions on the analysis of the security of remote banking systems, automated process control systems and ATMs have become the calling card of PHDays.

However, we are not going to rest on our laurels and today we bring to your attention three completely new hacker contests, in which any participant of the event can take part.

Mitm mobile

Mobile security problems have long been a secret to no one. The GSM standard stands out in particular against the general background, which has already been learned to crack not only by the special services of different countries , but also by single engineers who do not have large budgets or access to sophisticated equipment.

Even the use of more secure standards 3G and 4G does not fundamentally affect the situation, since a complete rejection of GSM will not be possible for a long time. This, for example, opens up the scope for conducting downgrade attacks using the evil twin base stations to force the switching of subscribers to a leaky GSM.

Interception of SMS, USSD, telephone conversations, work with IMSI-catcher, hacking keys, encryption using kraken and cloning mobile phones. PHDays visitors will be able to see all this at a special booth. Details of the attacks will be revealed during the master class, and anyone can try to get into the network of our small telecom operator, specially created for the competition. The most agile participants will receive valuable prizes.

IGrids Digital Substation Takeover

Visitors to the forum will have the opportunity to see and even try to hack a real electrical substation built according to the IEC 61850 standard.

Real switches, time servers, controllers and relay protection devices presented on a specially designed layout manage modern high-voltage networks and protect them from emergency situations and abnormal situations, for example, from short circuits or damage to power lines. Hacking of a software and hardware control complex (SCADA) or intelligent protection devices (IED) can lead to disconnection of consumers from electricity or targeted destruction of power equipment and expensive equipment.



The layout was provided by the event partner - Intellectual Networks LLC, iGrids.ru . All winners of the competition will receive special souvenirs from the organizers.

Hacknet

Dynamic routing is used everywhere today - both in the global network and in the corporate segments. There are cases when attackers successfully managed to crack various routing protocols, such as RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IS-IS (and not only IPv4, but also IPv6), and intercept traffic.

At this master class, experts from Positive Technologies will show how to carry out such attacks, and then anyone can try their hand at hacking routing protocols.
