Contests HackQuest and Hash Runner: warm up the brains before PHDays

Although it is almost a month before the Positive Hack Days V conference, some traditional activities dedicated to this event will start much earlier. Today we will talk about how to take part in two popular hacker contests, which start on May 11 and May 15. In addition to memorable prizes, the winning teams will receive free invites to the conference!

HackQuest Competition

Time: from May 11 to May 17

A dozen tasks that need to be solved in just 7 days is a great opportunity to tune in to the right wave before delving into the hardcore PHDays forum reports. The main theme of this year's HackQuest is the Web! Charge your tulkits and scanners: if the first flags are taken in one sitting, then you will have to turn on the latter. This year, the ONsec company is again engaged in preparing the competition. During the 6 years of its existence, it has completed more than 200 projects on analyzing the security of web resources, and the prototypes of the found bugs became the main task for HackQuest. Since 2013, the company has been developing Wallarm, solutions for real-time protection of web applications from hacker attacks and the search for vulnerabilities in them - it is successfully used in dozens of organizations and Internet companies, whose services are used daily by millions of people.

Hash Runner Contest

Time: May 15 (19:00 UTC + 3) on May 18 (19:00 UTC + 3)

Bidders will be provided with a list of hashes generated by various MD5, SHA-1, BlowFish, GOST3411 algorithms. Points for each hacked hash will be charged depending on the complexity of the algorithm, the length and membership (for example, a dictionary or generation) of the hash value. To win, it is necessary not only to have access to serious computing power (video cards, FPGAs), but also - ideally - to put together a combat team that will be able to compete with such competitors as InsidePro , hashcat and john-users . However, any user of the Internet will be able to take part in the competition, alone or as part of a team.

Prizes:

• 1 place. ATI R9 295x2 video card, Quad-Spartan 6 LX150 FPGAs (4 pieces), invites to the forum for the whole team
