Hello!
Attentive users already know that Friday’s regular weekly build of Vivaldi 1.0.156.2 browser came out. For technical reasons, it was not possible to publish the news in Russian on the same day, so I hasten to fill this omission and talk about the new build today.
But first of all I want to answer in advance the most impatient users who often scold us for being slow and for not having big changes from one assembly to another. A small team of our developers, numbering today 15 people, and two dozen Sopranos (these are browser freelance testers working directly with developers), do everything possible so that by the first stable release the browser becomes convenient, reliable and suitable for active daily use by all users with the most different requests. That is why we decided to release weekly new builds for wider testing, even though they have bugs and shortcomings. Thus, you can see live, as the browser development process goes, and you can also take a direct part in improving it, telling us about errors. Over the past month you have sent us almost a thousand such messages and most of them have been corrected. At the same time, the existing functions continue to improve, and new ones are added. Perhaps it is not always the changes that justify your personal expectations, but remember that we receive information from tens of thousands of users around the world and, like all other developers, we give the greatest priority to those shortcomings that prevent the largest number of users. We hope that you see the progress in work and understand that our plans coincide with yours - we also want to use a convenient, fast and functional browser. And now - more about the new assembly.
This week we have been actively engaged in debugging the installation process and the browser auto-update system. In this build, you will not see many of the problems associated with installing, upgrading, or uninstalling your browser that you encountered in previous builds. Perhaps someone will not notice these changes, but in fact the problem was quite frequent, so we could not disregard it.

We also worked with the shortcut function. Now you can easily edit, delete and restore those that were by default. Additionally, new combinations appeared:
- Place group tabs vertically: Ctrl + F9
- Place group tabs horizontally: Ctrl + F8
- Add group tabs on the grid: Ctrl + F7
- Zoom in: 0, +
- Zoom out: 9, -
Spatial navigation has become more convenient thanks to the new algorithm, we also fixed several important errors in the operation of this function. Try it yourself and let us know your impressions.
In the new assembly there is good news for users of the Mac operating system. We have done some work with the adaptation of the browser menu to the system menu, so you have the opportunity to use previously inaccessible items.
That's all for now. I can only add that very soon we will be able to show the next version of Technical Preview 3, it is on its preparation that we are working particularly actively now. You can download today's build from the links below:
