A twenty-four-year physics student Mubarak Muhammad Abdullahi from northern Nigeria dismantles old cars and motorcycles in his yard and makes helicopters out of these parts.

“I assembled this helicopter in eight months,” he says, filling the radiator of a yellow four-seater helicopter parked on the campus. The helicopter, which has already been airborne six times, is made of aluminum scrap, which Abdullahi bought with money earned by repairing computers and mobile phones, as well as with the money of his father, who teaches at a local university.
