Extraordinary weekly build Vivaldi 1.0.138.4

Unexpectedly, we have released a new unscheduled weekly assembly of the Vivaldi browser at number 1.0.138.4. The last build, which was released on Monday, was not quite the same as expected - many errors and shortcomings showed up, so our conscience could not stand it and we with double strength took up the repair of what we broke. As a result, a new assembly has matured, which we have decided to offer you without shelving. So, what's new in it?

First of all, we are very actively working on improving the performance of the browser interface - many of you complained about the "brakes". We have done some optimization, especially with the drawing of the Express panel and with the acceleration of the so-called "cold" start - see what we have done.

We also added a new feature related to tab grouping. Or to their display. In general - decide for yourself how to call it. Now, by clicking on a tab group, you can select the corresponding item in the context menu and arrange the group pages in one window next to each other. The request for such a function was quite popular, so today we offer you to evaluate this new function and let us know your impressions.

We also worked on a system for importing data from other browsers. Earlier it was possible to import from Chrome, now you can try to do the same from Opera 15+ and from Yandex Browser.

One of the most popular features has always been to disable images or display only cached ones. Also, the function of enabling plug-ins on demand had a pretty good popularity. We decided to try to combine these two functions, performing, in general, one task. Now when you turn off the display of pictures, the function of enabling plug-ins on demand will be automatically activated. Try, experiment - waiting for your feedback.

We "repaired" mouse gestures. But that's not all. At the same time, we added one of the most popular and frequently requested gestures - opening a new tab. Check if everything works the way you wanted.

We also slightly changed the loading indicator of the background tabs according to your wishes. And do not forget to correct the opening and display of the start page, getting rid of a couple of bugs leading to crash of the browser.

And finally, a small dessert for Linux users. We added the ability to swap the system controls of the browser window and the Vivaldi menu. In the sense - from left to right. Or from right to left. To your taste.
