Aptana + Ubuntu = ... (hot on the heels)

As promised in the commentary on Habré , he experimented with the Aptana Studio community edition.
As a result, a story with elements of a detective story and comedy.
Let me remind you, the question in the author’s article was that the Ubuntu + Aptana bundle works, um, not fast.
Curiosity leaped: Come on, I feel myself Compare with KomodoEdit .
So, the configuration of the tentacles of a single machine :
CPU: Celeron 2.53 GHz
Ram: 512 Mb Dual mode
HDD: Samsung 40 Gb IDE
Video: on-board, Intel

OS: Kubuntu 8.04 , KDE 3.x
Soft: Aptana Studio 1.1
Java 6 Standart edition (traditional apt-get install sun-java6 -...)
Wine (a separate mention, see below)
Background music: audacious , ( Metallica - Shoot me again ) :)

Proceeded.
I downloaded the Aptana Studio 1.1 Community edition product from the Aptana official site .
After a vigorous download process, a vigorous attempt to unpack the archive immediately followed.
With the intention of launching the product, based on the assurances of "just double-click on AptanaStudio launcher".
Unpacked the 70-megabyte archive, as it should be, in / home / dals / aptana
And with the help of Dolphin moved to the designated directory. The eyes immediately snatched the inscription "AptanaStudio", and his hands inexorably reached out to make a "double click". But this was not the case: after the click, for some reason, a window with the requirement of Firefox or Java RE, which was not heavy on forums and blogs, popped up. On the taskbar, the Wine icon dimly played.
Bad thoughts began to prevail: why? And, as it turned out, not in vain: Kubuntu for its own reasons considered that AptanaStudio is an application from the world of Win32 (!).
"However!" - I thought. I read a few more minutes of manuals and the Internet. :)
I decided to transfer to the recommended location / usr / local / aptana, although I knew with my head that there would be no difference.
The result is the same: dblClick -> Wine -> silent shutdown.
Had a malicious desire to act radically: remove trash and return to KomodoEdit.
But, as usual, leaped pride. Applied a makeshift, but effective method: on the desktop, created a launch shortcut for AptanaStudio. Another attempt - another failure.
')
Curiosity, comrades, will not destroy the world - it will save it: I decided to look into the properties of the label. How angry he was for himself: there is a launch point with Wine. With unspeakable composure removed the malicious point. Oh, miracle!
At last AptanaStudio showed the splash-screen.
True, not for long: the download of the program on my machine is about 10-15 seconds.

And, actually, I tell further observations of the speed of the Aptana + Ubuntu bundle.
It should be noted, delivered a plugin for PHP (also from the official website of the program).
Through FTP I opened a dozen files of a web project on CodeIgniter, added to the project.
Attached a few simple functions in the controller.
I did not find any noticeable brakes and visas in my work: the system and the program reacted adequately, respectively, to the latter’s load. In general, I took note of the fact that in addition to KomodoEdit, you can use AptanaStudio.

Brief summary : the hypothesis about the stagnation of the Ubuntu + Aptana bundle was not confirmed. On a scale, of course, a small project. But the question did not suggest the number of open tabs with files, right? ..
:)

Finally, I’ll say: if you are interested, I’ll make a short guide with installation pictures and
brief setup of this product.

I ask fair criticism, this is my first post on Habrahabr.
Thanks for attention.

UPD: thanks for the karma :) I will certainly fulfill my promise and post a note with illustrations on installing Aptana on (K) Ubuntu.
UPD2: I read the comments and I am surprised a little: why am I such a machine for the truthfulness , almost not buggy.
