4 Giga RAM instead of 2 in the laptop. Test results

Despite the strong general opinion that there is not a lot of RAM, lately I have repeatedly stumbled upon a directory in which the people with the confidence that they are right claim that 4 gigabytes of memory in a notebook is an unnecessary luxury. Two reasons are given as an argument - the first is that 32-bit Windows do not see more than 3.5 gig and do not use surplus. The second argument is power consumption, saying that the 4-gigabyte configuration consumes the battery of the laptop rather than 2 gigabytes.
The site's Tom's hardware guide lab tested the behavior of the Dell serial laptop when working with 2 and 4 gigabytes of memory on board. For which many thanks to them. The results of the experiment are described in detail here .
For those who are too lazy to click on the link, I inform you that power consumption has dropped a bit with memory growth (which is unexpected), and productivity has increased (as expected)
Unfortunately, the configuration with 3 gigs remained in the background, in which the memory stops working as a two-channel one, and we still cannot reasonably believe how bad it is.
