Istanbul got its own domain name

The domain name extension for Istanbul (.ist and .istanbul) is in great demand. Such domains became available last month, reports Rusturkey , and since then they have been actively bought up by business owners in Istanbul and foreign companies.

In particular, world brands such as the BBC, BMW, Versace and WhatsApp are very interested in such domain names. But in general, any company and individuals doing business in Istanbul can acquire such a domain.

According to a representative of the Istanbul municipality Bekir Kaplan (tour. Bekir Kaplan), about three hundred applications for the registration of domain names with the .istanbul extension are submitted daily. And this is expected to contribute to the city’s commercial and cultural activities, as well as its worldwide recognition.

The mayor of the city of Kadir Topbash reported on the appearance of his own domain name in Istanbul on January 27, after signing the relevant agreement between the mayor's office and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.
