Vladimir Kryukov: “Ubuntu is an operating system not subject to virus threat”
Interesting Ubuntu Interview:
What are the main features and benefits of the Ubuntu Desktop Edition operating system compared to Windows?
Vladimir Kryukov: The advantages and disadvantages are subjective and objective. In the first case, a lot depends on the previous user experience, the tasks that it solves and the programs - the tools that are used. It would be wrong to say that Ubuntu is an operating system for everyone. But it is noticed that users who do not have computer experience are mastered in Ubuntu even faster than those who have worked in Windows and acquired some habits (“Why is there no Start button at the bottom left?”). Objectively - friendliness, security, the use of new, but proven technologies - features noted by third-party observers in Ubuntu. When creating a distribution kit, our developers are guided by the principle of minimal sufficiency and ease of use. In the standard OS bundle, the user will find a large set of programs necessary for working with office documents and the Internet, graphics, music and video. At the same time, there are no duplicate components in the system. At the same time, Ubuntu provides the broadest options for customizing the environment for you. There is an opportunity to "imitate" the style and other software environments: Vista, MacOS. In the standard software base, the user has access to more than 14,000 different free applications. Note that Ubuntu is very unpretentious to the system resources of the PC (the system takes 2Gb on the hard disk and requires 512Mb of RAM). What are the main problems the system developers are now solving? Vladimir Kryukov: Regular exit of the system once in 6 months and support for previous versions creates a big burden for developers. We do not release a “raw” product, behind each release there is a lot of work on testing and debugging. In addition, Ubuntu is becoming an increasingly popular platform for both software developers and hardware vendors. Our goal is to improve Ubuntu as a platform and include support for new technologies. ')
