Difference in the price of models with Linux and Windows

ASUS has announced in Sydney that the increasingly popular EEE PC 900 with Linux will be sold at a much higher price (rumored to $ 50) than with Windows XP.

And the difference in the amount of SSD memory remained the same - 12 GB for a model with Windows XP (at a cost of ~ $ 600) and 20 GB for a model with Xandros Linux (~ $ 650). And even worse, the Linux version can only be purchased through a limited number of vendors. At outrage, a representative from ASUS said that Microsoft is their long-time partner.

However, do not forget that earlier it was stated that the difference in 8 GB SSD covers the cost of a Windows license. and as a result, it turned out that Linux users will have to pay for the additional 8 GB, and there is no difference in price between Xandros and Windows.
And also imagine that ordinary users will remember when they buy an EEE P. With Linux more expensive, with Windows cheaper. It looks like another move Microsoft (I have paranoia?) .
')
At the moment, the cost is increased only in Australia, but do not forget that in early June, official deliveries of EEE PC 900 to Russia are promised. I wonder what to expect us ...
