VeriSign pays for vulnerability information in Microsoft products
VeriSign’s iDefense Labs division announced that it was paying $ 8,000 in reward to anyone who finds a vulnerability in Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 7 that allows them to execute program code on the attacked machine.
“Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Windows dominate the respective markets, and it’s no surprise that upgrading products to Internet Explorer 7.0 and Windows Vista is a very ambiguous step,” reads the announcement of the VeriSign promotion.
A similar initiative was previously launched by 3COM, calling its campaign Zero Day Initiative. Users who found the vulnerability were also paid for error information, according to eWeek .
