I hope I did not miss the blog, but I did not find a separate blog about analytics or statistics systems.
Faced with such strangeness: the number of direct transitions (what is called direct in Google Analytics) began to increase, this has never happened, but now it has happened. At the same time, the total number of visits practically does not change, direct grows, and other sources correspondingly fall (i.e., according to statistics, there are fewer and fewer transitions)
The first race will be explained. We added the counter with a line that changes CookieTimeout - it was six months, now 30 minutes
(Click here for details on CookieTimeout
code.google.com/apis/analytics/docs/gaJSApiCampaignTracking.html#_gat.GA_Tracker_._setCookieTimeout ).
After changing the counter statistics certainly changed, traffic was redistributed between sources in favor of direct.
But the eighth week is already underway, and direct traffic continues to increase, the rest are falling. Even Adwords - earlier the data coincided with the data in Analytics - the difference did not exceed 2%, now the difference reaches 16% (earlier both Adwords and Analytics for the selected date showed for example 8000 transitions for the period, now Adwords shows 8300, and Analytics 7000).

An active advertising campaign (neither online nor offline) has been around for three months already.
Can someone explain this?
