A few days ago, antivirus company McAfee
discovered a new Trojan Downloader-UA.h, which is distributed in a very original way: through fake MP3 files in peer-to-peer networks.
Over the past few days, an online detection system has recorded 320,000 infections with this virus. Over the past 24 hours, every fourth virus infection in the world was caused by Downloader-UA.h. Apparently, the mark of half a million infected PCs will be overcome within 48 hours.

The fake files do not actually contain any media content, and the Trojan launches the PLAY_MP3.exe installer. If the user accepts the terms of a multi-page user agreement, then several programs are installed on the computer. One of them (
Minar’s software ) downloads free MP3s, and two more are generating pop-up windows while surfing using a Firefox or IE browser. All this is provided by the terms of the user agreement.
