“The United States recently adopted new trade restrictions that prevent American companies from doing business with individuals and legal entities located in Crimea (Ukraine).” As a result, we are no longer able to provide our services to these customers, ”the GoDaddy letter says.
The company notifies users that they need to close their account and registered domains until January 31, 2015. Paid domain names expire as a result of these restrictions and will automatically be put on sale.
Denis Rotanov, director general of the Russian representative office of 101domain registrar, said that they have a similar policy, but to avoid blocking “it’s enough to change the name of the city”.
