The YouTube development team has
announced that now
HTML5 will be the default standard for playing videos, instead of Flash. HTML5 will be used to play the content of the service on Google Chrome, MS IE11, Apple Safari 8 and Mozilla Firefox beta browsers. A few years ago, YouTube
launched an experimental version of the HTML5 player for devices or OS that do not support Flash Player or simply do not want to use it (for example, iOS).

The Flash Player plugin, which is used to play Flash content, has been repeatedly criticized for
constantly detecting vulnerabilities in it that attackers used to remotely execute malicious code in the system. Unfortunately, for some of these vulnerabilities, even optimal browser security settings will not protect the user. Last year, Flash Player vulnerabilities were discovered that attackers could use to bypass the sandbox mechanisms of web browsers.
