The Center for Media Technologies is completing the beta testing of the video news portal
Newstube.ru (ProNovosti). Created along the lines of Rutube.ru, this portal will specialize in professional news stories, and among content providers are Russia's largest television studios, including VGTRK, TV Center and others. The opening of the portal has already been
officially announced on the English-language website of the Center for Media Technologies.
The final launch of the portal is expected in the second half of May or in early June. The domain was registered more than a year ago at the Media Technologies Center, and insider sources claim that the project was initiated by the well-known oligarch Alisher Usmanov, the billionaire director general of
Gazprominvestholding LLC , the owner of the Kommersant publishing house and co-owner of the Arsenal football club (London).
According
to eyewitnesses , a few days ago, access to the beta page of Newstube.ru was open to all comers, but after the leak of information it was closed. Although it was not possible to take screenshots, they say that “the first page of the portal consists of links to videos that are provided with short annotations and are structured into sections:“ Politics ”,“ Culture ”,“ Sport ”, etc.”.
The Center for Media Technologies has still not particularly advertised its activities, but since April it has opened a
number of new vacancies , including the editor-in-chief of the online project and data processing operator, whose duties include “adapting and converting video content” also "saving content in a content management information system".
