Not so long ago, the so-called “tips” appeared in Google search results for some keywords - a direct advertisement of other Google services.
One of the first to
express his indignation about this was the well-known programmer Blake Ross, one of the “architects” of Firefox. It is characteristic that this advertisement is not at all in the right column with commercial banners, but directly in the organic issue. For example, on the request for “photo sharing,” a tip appeared to try Google Picasa.
Other bloggers from around the world joined Blake Ross, after which the “tips” were removed from Google search results. At the same time, Yahoo’s search engine, its main competitor,
decided not to abandon this practice, although this way of communicating with the user
cannot be called very honest .
