If you go to the main page of the
Gmail service (registered users need to click "Sign Out"), you will see a number frozen at 2800 MB. This is a disk space counter that shows the size of a free mailbox.

Since April 1, 2005, this value has continuously increased by about 0.33 MB per day, and in less than two years it has increased from 2,000 to 2,800 MB. However, on January 1, 2007, the meter stopped.

Apparently, Google programmers
forgot to update the counter script so that it continues to work in the new year.
UPD. January 3, 2007. The script started working again.
