Today we opened the entry for 10 new free online courses (MOOC) in subjects from linear algebra and discrete structures to the archeology of folklore and investment banking. Among the authors are teachers and researchers from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, the National Research University Higher School of Economics, the Steklov Mathematical Institute, the SAIU of the Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University and Information Security, MISiS, and the University of St. Petersburg. Most of the new courses are being developed according to the results of the Stepic Challenge, which we
wrote about earlier.

Teachers are working on recording materials right now, so if you are interested in a course, you can make suggestions and ideas for its content. We will try to accommodate them.
List of new courses:- Discrete structures (March 7, 2015)

More about coursesThis time we are preparing not only basic courses, but also more complex ones, for the development of which a mathematical preparation of the physical school level of the school is required:
')
1. Discrete structures
Alexander Dainyak, Associate Professor of the Department of Discrete Mathematics, FIVT MFTI, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences , will help you develop the mathematical intuition necessary in working with discrete objects and algorithms on them. The course of discrete mathematics is part of the program of any modern technical college. It is easy to explain: the language of discrete mathematics is the language spoken by computer science.

3. Chemical evolution of the Universe
Pavel Abolmasov and Anna Chashkina, scientists at the SAI of MSU, will talk about how the substance that makes up our Universe is formed and changed. As soon as after the Big Bang, particles formed, and from them - the first nuclei, as the primary substance condensed into the first stars, what the substance of the Universe would be in the distant future, when hydrogen, the universal stellar fuel, would end.

Denis Korolev, Candidate of Technical Sciences and Associate Professor at MIEM HSE , will conduct a review course on computer graphics. The course will cover non-computer fundamentals of computer graphics, starting with physics and biology, as well as algorithms, software, hardware, 3D graphics and video technology.

Anatoly Karpov, a researcher and a graduate student at the Department of General Psychology at St. Petersburg State University, a teacher at the Institute of Bioinformatics , will introduce students to the basic concepts and methods of mathematical statistics. Within three weeks, the most widely used statistical methods and principles behind them will be reviewed.

The course of Maxim Buyev, a professor at the Faculty of Economics in Applied Finance of the University of St. Petersburg , will be useful to anyone interested in a career in the financial sector. You will learn about the different types of careers in investment banks, firms and hedge funds. Learn to successfully complete job interviews and get an idea of what kind of activity you will be doing in the office in the first few years. The course is equipped with tests, case studies and examples from the real life of the City of London and the Russian financial sector.

Yuri Berezkin, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department of America, MAE RAS ,
Professor of the Faculty of Anthropology at the European University in this course shows how the study of world folklore allows you to see the distribution of individual folklore motifs in different traditions and draw conclusions about such cultural contacts and migrations that we have little other evidence.

Kirill Artemenko, editor-in-chief and co-founder of the Internet newspaper Bumaga, and Maria Rzayeva, a specialist in marketing and editorial special projects Bumay, will teach you to evaluate the quality of media materials in a qualified way, to distinguish quality journalism from manipulation. For pupils and students, this course will help to better understand the essence of the profession of a journalist and decide whether this work is interesting for them.
