Reiman promised the village digital TV by 2015

The Minister of Information Technologies and Communications of the Russian Federation, Leonid Reiman, yesterday presented the concept of the federal target program “Development of TV and Radio Broadcasting in the Russian Federation 2007-2015”, which has already been approved by the Ministry of Culture. It is reported by Prime-Tass , referring to the information of the Ministry of Communications.

This program aims to eliminate informational inequalities between urban and rural populations. According to her, the benefits of digital broadcasting will be felt, first of all, by the village, due to a sharp increase in the quantity and quality of the TV programs received.

At present, according to the minister, about 63.3% of the population of Russia can watch no more than 4 television programs, and 2 million people in the country are completely deprived of this opportunity. According to Reiman, the transition to digital television and radio broadcasting will help ensure that all Russian citizens have the right to receive information, make TV more accessible and diverse, and improve the quality of television "pictures."

It is reported that with the introduction of digital television, residents of Russia, regardless of where they live (be it a village or a big city), will be able to receive at least 10 channels. The Minister noted that it would be possible to offer the population new services within the framework of television - “video on demand” (VoD), Internet access, background information on the work of public institutions, transport timetables, teleshopping, etc.

Together with the development of digital broadcasting, the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications intends to work on the modernization of the analog network.
