China is offline due to earthquake

Mainland China was left without an external Internet due to an earthquake in Taiwan (6.7 on the Richter scale). According to news agencies, it is almost impossible to open foreign websites in the Chinese capital - Google, Yahoo! etc.

Representatives of the operator China NetCom explained that the earthquake damaged submarine optical cables connecting China and the United States. In addition, several more cables were cut off, including the Sino-European cable. Attempts are now being made to restore communication through the spare networks and the satellite, but it is not yet known how long this will take.

Internet users in other countries were also affected. According to "Echo of Moscow" , communication problems are experienced by residents of South Korea.
