Jabber and privacy

A lot has already been said in favor of Jabber and ICQ. But I’ve come to the conclusion that I trust Jabber less.

And the thing is this. ICQ has only a few servers, and all of them are controlled by AOL. And imagine what kind of traffic goes through them. Yes, in different languages. While the Jabber-servers are the sea, everyone has their own host independent of others ... Yes, using SSL you protect yourself from the admin of your local computer ... But how can you protect yourself from the host server? Are they all honest with users and do not intend to "merge" the logs of your conversations to the left?

If in ICQ between you and your interlocutor 1 link - servers AOL, then in Jabber there may be 2 of them: your server and the server of the interlocutor. The chance that a curious admin decides to read what you are writing is already TWICE above! I repeat, server owners are different and independent from each other ...

Here is such a paranoid cry. :) And what do you think about this?
