DEV Labs 2014 - online conference for Oracle developers
We invite you to take part in the fourth conference of the DEV Labs series, which will take place on Saturday, November 22, and will be devoted to the Oracle DBMS. The purpose of the event is to talk in accessible language about the possibilities of new versions of products, replenish a set of interesting tips and tricks, share new methodologies for solving non-trivial tasks, and also discuss on the most pressing topics.

Conference topics:
"Oracle Database In-Memory: Not Just a Cache."Alexander Breiman Usually, the disk subsystem is a bottleneck in data management systems, and most of the tricks of DBMS developers are aimed at accessing the disk as seldom as possible. But if the entire database is stored in memory, then, probably, all these tricks become unnecessary? Maybe it is enough to allocate more memory for buffers, and everything will be fine right away? Or is it not so simple? Why all these TimesTen, SAP HANA, and now (from 12.1.0.2) and Oracle Database In-memory? Let's see.
"Oracle Securefiles: pulling together relational data and file systems."Alexander Pavlovsky
How large objects fit in large databases.
What does the LOB locator look like, what is stored in the LOB segment and how many blocks are in the chunk.
What size is my table and how is REDO and UNDO generated for large objects.
What does caching LOB for performance.
What does Securefile mean here and how everything changed in 11G?
New features Securefile: deduplication, encryption and data compression.
Securefile is better than Basicfile, isn't it?
Development of architecture Securefile: file system in a database (DBFS).
DBFS and NFS performance comparison.
New feature of Oracle Database 11g: Adaptive Cursor Sharing.Valery Kovalchuk In the report, you will learn about the use of bind variables, namely:
History of Cursor Sharing Technology
Cursor divisions and literals
Cursor Splitting and Binding Variables
Cursor Sharing Improvements
Adaptive Cursor Sharing
Working with Adaptive Cursor Sharing

Match Recognize (Pattern Matching).Denis Crepe Not so long ago, Analytic functions, MODEL and PIVOT were new. Today, Senior Oracle Developer knows and loves them. But time does not stand still, and a new round of evolution of Analytical capabilities in Oracle SQL has appeared. Oracle 12c brought powerful new data analysis capabilities, such as analyzing and searching pattern sequences. During this report, we will try to understand the theory, as well as show with examples, why it may be useful, what is so innovative about this, and how this novelty works.
The conference starts on Saturday November 22 at 11:00 am Moscow time. Each presentation is designed for 1 hour + 30 minutes for questions and discussion. Detailed schedule can be found on the conference website. To participate in the conference is necessary to register .
