VeriSign , which manages the .com and .net domains, decided not to stay away from the lucrative business of selling media files. Together with AxiomTV, the company plans to open a new family-friendly movie service.
The service will use p2p technology, all movies will be DRM protected. Only those films that do not contain scenes of violence, obscene expressions and “obscene scenes” will be distributed through the new service. According to Daniel Cobb, the head of AxiomTV, Daniel Cobb, companies want to present a fundamentally new approach to distributing video products and create a service that focuses on “family use”.
VeriSign will launch a closed testing project on January 8, 2007. It is planned that it will be officially presented on February 1, reports
