Vista Capable vs. Microsoft case goes further

The trial of Microsoft, which started a very controversial campaign of marking computers with Windows Vista Capable icons in 2006, continues (read about history). The West Coast Court of Appeal dismissed Microsoft’s request for a review of the decision of the district court that accepted the class action against the company. This means that, at the request of the court, additional materials may be made public, including internal correspondence between Microsoft and its partners from Intel, and also possibly from Dell and HP. What, in fact, Redmond is afraid of, believing that this information could jeopardize the company's reputation and its relations with customers and partners.

Yuri Larin, product marketing manager for Windows in Russia, told us that today the company has no information about complaints from our compatriots about the insufficient performance of computers marked with Vista Capable when working on Vista.

Erwin Visser, managing Windows marketing in Redmond and recently visiting Russia, declined to comment on the situation with the court, citing company policy.
