Does PHP need a full type hinting?

A relatively recent RFC (Request for comment) was added with a suggestion to introduce type hinting. A discussion can be found here . In the mailing list of opinions are different: who is for, who is against, who is for strict typification, who is for leaving everything as it is. Do you think this functionality is needed in PHP?
