Lego WeDo - robotics for the little ones

The fact that robotics in the future will increasingly penetrate the everyday life of an ordinary person is already clear to many, if not all. And with what opportunities and difficulties humanity will face - the discussion is also open.
But how to prepare the younger generation for these changes, to work out with them the correct attitude to the problem, to acquaint them with the principles and rules of the functioning of robots?

Lego took this issue very seriously and a few years ago released the LEGO Education WeDo special educational design kit. In spite of the fact that the recruitment is already several years old, only now domestic educational institutions began to pay attention to it.

')
LEGO WeDo was designed for primary school students (grades 1-4), but nothing prohibits its use for older children.

The kit includes 158 parts (all compatible with other cubes and Lego components), as well as:

USB switch , through which the control of motors and sensors;

motor (the direction of rotation and the power of which can be adjusted using special software);

tilt sensor (distinguishes between six positions - “Nose up”, “Nose down”, “On the right side”, “On the left side”, “No slope”, “On either side”);

distance sensor (detects objects at a distance of 15 cm);

software (a cut-down version of the graphical programming environment for the "older brothers" Mindstorms );

assembly instructions and programming 12 basic models of models.

In addition, there are specially designed curricula and guidelines up to the organization of the working space in Russian (which other Lego educational kits cannot boast of, Mindstorms based robotics teachers will understand me).

All this allows you to organize an exciting learning process for kids and from the first school years to join the amazing world of robots, as well as to develop logic and creative thinking.

Here you can find videos of working models from the kit.

WeDo is also recommended for parents - it-shnik for games with his child.

PS A traditional question for readers - what kind of kits for teaching children of 6-9 years old do you know?
