Online course “Data Visualization. Basics

There are such cases, about which it is clear that they are important and necessary, but which reach the hands in the last place - that is, often never. I think the online version of the data visualization course had every chance of becoming such a forever postponed case. If not for Habr ...

In February, in response to TyMaH's user comment, I promised that “by the end of this year, we will somehow do it online”. A promise is a promise. Meet our first (mini) online course “Data Visualization. The Basics .

')
The course is devoted to design principles of working with complex data and introduces students to the D3.js library - the most powerful and flexible tool for creating interactive visualizations. The course consists of 6 lectures and 6 practical tasks, each of which allows you to apply and consolidate theoretical material.

We decided to make the course free and accessible to everyone. On November 1, we will open access to lectures and practical parts, and on November 16, we will publish solutions for practical tasks for independent verification. Thus, the course is given 2 weeks. To receive a notification about the beginning of the course, send us your email address:

For those who want a deeper immersion, work on their own mini-project and individual consultations with teachers, we will simultaneously conduct a paid study group. Upon completion of the course, after the implementation of practical tasks and the protection of the mini-project, members of the paid group receive an electronic certificate of completion of the course. Here is this:

This is the first course in the series, and it covers only a small part of the knowledge that we want to share. To be honest, the course turned out to be less detailed than we originally planned, and not at all the way we had imagined. But do not judge strictly - this is our first step. We welcome your feedback, comments and suggestions.

The course was worked on: info designer and laboratory manager Tanya Bibikova infotanka , laboratory developer and technical director Dima Semjushkin devgru , cameraman Alex Payevsky.
