Working library of web typographer and content manager
Despite the fact that the main tool of the web typographer and content manager is the Internet, the whole body of useful materials for us has been translated into electronic form. Therefore, I decided to list those paper books that I have on a separate shelf, and which I don’t have time to accumulate dust due to their constant use.
The list of books will be divided into groups according to topics, and each of them will be divided into groups “must-read and have” and “can be read and have” (this allocation is certainly subjective, so I will not argue about it exactly). In principle, the majority of books are in wide sale, including in the largest Russian online stores. Some are scanned and can be found on the Internet.
I decided to cover the following topics, which all the time pop up in the process of working, or are necessary for general education designers, interested in web typography, and content managers:
Alexandra Korolkova, “Living Typography” - a very solid book from a young author, is perfect for beginners as one of the first books on typography.
Not necessary
Emil Ruder, "Typography" - a great book for the general education and upbringing of artistic taste in the context of book design.
Vladimir Krichevsky, "Typography in terms and images" - the book is framed in the form of a dictionary of typographical terms, richly illustrated. Also recommended for the development of taste.
Jan Chihold, The Look of the Book - a selection of articles from the classic of typography.
Mikhail Vladimirovich Schulmeister, “Manual Collection” is the desk book of the layout designer in the era of manual collection of books.
Allen Hurlbert, “Modular Grid” - the use of modular grids is gradually moving from magazine printing to the Internet. In this regard, it is useful to familiarize yourself with the concept and basic laws of working with modular grids.
James Felici, "Typography: Font, Layout, Design" - a modern book on computer layout from an American author. Mention only for order, last but not least. Be very careful, the book lacks factual errors and inaccuracies in the translation!

Not necessary
Dietmar Elyashevich Rosenthal, Margarita Alekseevna Telenkova, “Dictionary of difficulties of the Russian language” - covers about 20,000 words representing difficulties of a different nature. The most important for us are the spelling of words, the usage of words, the shaping and the compatibility of words.
Vladimir Vladimirovich Lopatin, Iya Veniaminovna Nechaeva, Lyudmila Konstantinovna Cheltsova, “Is it uppercase or lowercase?” Is a spelling dictionary covering the use of uppercase and lowercase letters. Includes compound personal names, place names, religious concepts, organization names, etc.
Rostislav Chebykin, "Development and design of the text content of sites" - claims to be a complete tutorial / reference book for novice content managers. Perhaps, for the start and not bad, but occasionally there are errors.
