Google Web API is no longer supported.

Google Web API, a public service for developers, is no longer supported, reports Digg.com . More specifically, the new developers are not given the keys.

Thanks to the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) protocol, programmers could write services to search for data using the Google search engine. Support has been terminated without any announcement.

In the comments to the Digg.com post, the situation is somewhat clearer: SOAP, which is part of the previous Google Web API, is an obsolete protocol, and the more advanced AJAX API mechanism replaced the old engine.
