The Germans decided to publish a printed book on Wikipedia.

The German publisher Random House announced that the German version of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia in September 2008 will be released on paper. The editorial staff did their best, selecting 50 thousand of the most informative and popular articles for a future encyclopedia of more than 1,000 pages. The degree of popularity is determined by the frequency of access to the publication by users of the online encyclopedia.

In late 2007, the German magazine Stern called the German version of Wikipedia the best encyclopedia of the country, superior in quality to the online version of the Brockhaus encyclopedia. German Wikipedia (over 0.7 million articles) is the second largest section of the encyclopedia after English.

According to the rules of Wikipedia, the publishing house Random House will not have any copyright on the thousand-page paper edition.
